The Coffee Lover's Gift Guide

Coffee gift

Buying for a coffee lover is easy to get wrong. They probably already own the novelty mug and the gadget that's now in a cupboard. What they never turn down is good coffee and the handful of small things that make drinking it better.

Start with the beans

You almost can't go wrong giving someone excellent coffee. A dark, rich blend for the milk-and-espresso crowd; a fruity single origin for those who like to taste where it came from; and if you're not sure which way they lean, a gentle, crowd-pleasing filter blend is always welcome.

Then the things that make it better

Pair the beans with something to drink them from and you've turned a bag of coffee into a proper gift. A pair of ribbed glass cups makes an everyday coffee feel like a treat; a speckled stoneware mug is the one they'll reach for every morning. The best coffee gift is a little pairing — a bag of beans plus a mug or cups, wrapped together — which says you thought about their whole morning, not just ticked a box.
